The issue that’s been haunting my days over the last six weeks or so — saving the elected editor-in-chief position at The Daily Texan, the student newspaper of my alma mater — has come to a conclusion. That is to say, we won! The newspaper itself has a somewhat slanted account of these developments here, but it’s hard for the opponents of electing the newspaper editor to spin a victory out of what was clearly a major defeat.

Some hard work still remains, however. One of the things I hope we’ll be able to do over the long run is outreach to current students, letting them know about the traditions and history of the elected Daily Texan editorship. I’d like to see that happen, if only because it will give me yet another excuse to visit Austin frequently.
